Fun with the Pioneer Woman

Tuesday night I had the opportunity to go to see Ree Drummond, the pioneer woman! It was her first book signing on her tour.

It was a crazy night! It was very crowded with lots of women who love the pioneer woman.  When we arrived a hour and 15 minutes early there was already a line!

I’m glad we got there when we did because they did sell out of her cookbook, which is awesome by the way!

I went with my good friend Jen and we had a fun time.  Here we are waiting in line.

Once inside the craziness began! Jen and I quickly grabbed two chairs to save. Then split and she went to get our free t-shirts and I went to get in line to purchase our cookbooks.

We went back to our seats and waited patiently for Ree to make her appearance.  Everyone was so excited when she and her husband, the Marlboro Man, walked in the door!  Lots of screams and flashes from cameras!

Before doing the book signings she had a question and answer time. That was fun and she showed she is a humble, funny and REAL person!

Then the true madness began! Everyone THOUGHT they could just run to the front and make a line (or not) and get her autograph. BUT, they actually stopped the madness (somewhat) and went by seated sections.  And, guess what? Our section was the first to go up. That doesn’t mean  it went fast though. Everyone that went up I think needed to share their life story with her and take lots of pictures. It was SLOW MOVING! It took us about an hour to get up to her. I hope they learned a lot at this first signing to move things along faster for future signings.  She really needed someone (like her publisher) there to shut people up and get moving! Ha! Some people didn’t get out of there till really late. We were out about 8:30.  (We got there at 5:45!)

There was one gal in particular that thought she could break the “line rules.”  She tried one way to cut and the guy made her go back. Then she found another way to cut in and he tried to get her to move and she didn’t. Sooooo….  what would a good blogger do??? I took pictures of her! LOL!

AND, she didn’t even buy a freaking cookbook for her to sign. So, you are wondering what on earth was she cutting in line for? She had her sign her freaking BOOT!!!  If I had been Ree or the people at the Tulsa Historical Society and I would have told her a big, fat NO!

One of the most touching moments of the night was when she introduced her brother Mike. He came and spoke for a few minutes. When he looked up at her and said he loved her very much I’m pretty sure there wasn’t a dry eye in the place.  She truly has a lovely, very supportive family. It was nice seeing them all in person.

One last picture of HER! LOL!

Maybe it’s the teacher in me, but I can’t stand ‘cutters.’

Even with all the madness it truly was great to meet the Pioneer Woman.  Now, if only I could win one of her awesome giveaways!

Still bummed I didn't get to chat with you Tuesday night. Thank you for pointing out the cheater! I didn't see any of that because I wasn't in line, but those chicks need to be pointed out for their rudeness! You go girl!!!

Ugh I can't believe the cutter! They drive me nuts too!

How exciting to see Pioneer Woman -- I hope to catch her when she comes to Ponca City!

LOL! I didn't think to take a picture of the cutters, but I could just take one of yours! : ) {totally kidding}

It was so much fun getting to meet her and see the real Ree. I think she was so extremely overwhelmed with all of the people there. Did you find it crazy the mix of people that were there? I mean the different age groups and all the MEN {both young and old}. Liz and I couldn't believe it. Of course we had A LOT longer time waiting than you did....lucky girls!

I hate cutters. They make me so mad! I bet that girl has NO friends. And signing her boot? You have got to be kidding me.
I have not made it to signings but did order cookbooks for my mom, sister and myself.

That is so cool that you met her. She is amazing. If I could do 1/10th of what she does, I'd be happy!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE that you called out the cutter. I dislike cutters very much!

I love that you not only blogged about the cheater but took her pic and posted it to her blog! So funny! I'm also a tad bit jealous of all of my friends that went to see her 'cause I couldn't go due to the flu and didn't want to share it with all of you Pioneer Woman fans. Glad you had fun though!!

That's awesome that you got to go see her!! I had heard she was going to be in Tulsa, but already had things planned that night. Looks like so much fun...well, except for the cutter! I love that you posted her pic on your blog. Maybe someone will recognize her?! Wouldn't that be a hoot!

Hope you're having a great week!♥

Hey Dawn, I tried firefox so now I can see your blog.
I don't see how the Pioneer Woman does it but I guess she does. Her blog is awesome but not really my thing but my hat is off to her. Plus she home schools the kids and all that.
I'm glad you got to see her and get the book signed.
I don't like line cheaters either. I don't mind forcing my way to the front if there is not a line though.

That is so funny, this should go down as one of the funniest post this year. Cheaters, Line Cutters and and Drivers who wait till the last minute to merge forcing everyone to slam on the brakes. which slows it down even more foe the ones who have a sense of disipline. Makes me think of the Liberal way of thinking, it's all about me, everybody owes me something, I am in my own little world. (Warning, here is some Sarcasm)
We need more post like this. It is time to "Stand up" for those of us who abide by the rules and have morals.
